My 2pm Yawns are Gone!
I've learned a ton in just a week (I was finally trained today by a lady... a little to late haha! I had a lot of questions though). Everyone here is very nice, I'm learning the tricks of the trade (for example, Joanne -the main lady I assist- was in a meeting and it overlapped with another meeting she had scheduled with the CFO. Knowing she may go over, I went and handed her a note 5 minutes before so she was on time.... she REALLY appreciated that... would have been in trouble).
Anyways, the lady who oversees all of the Assistants stopped by and Joanne -the main lady I assist- said if she could give me a grade for the whole week it would be an A+. She said I'm perfect and is so glad I squeezed in (during the interview process). She said I almost wasn't considered because I scheduled the first interview from out of state. They're both sooo happy to have me, she wants to clone me already :) Yay hard work pays off.
Can't wait for the weekend... And my first paycheck :)
Love you alllllllllllllllllll muchooooooooooooo.

It has been a Journey... I'm Employed!!
The funnest one had to be for an Advertising Company - there was a basketball court in the middle of the building, people could bring their dogs to work, there was an artificial forest inside with the sound of crickets churping, people road scooters all around the building, etc.
The weirdest one was for a Media Company - there was a huge swing in the middle of the office, a cobra snake dangling from a branch in a huge cage...
But it was definitely a learning experience - each interview prepared me for the next. I can now answer every question you could ask without even thinking :)
I was recently offered an Administrative Assistant position at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica (which is where it's HeadQuarters are). I heard of the company thru Bill's brother (Greg) who lives down here. It was one of the first interviews I had scheduled before arriving down here.. I came the first day and was tested on the computer.. wasn't sure if I passed it but I did. And then came to 4 additional interviews after that. Met one lady. Met two more ladies. Met a lion, a tiger, and a bear. And lastly met all 4 people I'd be supporting. They are really nice people - all of them have been there for many years. I start Monday... will be working full time... and will be getting some good experience under my belt! It's a block from the beach too!! I love the city already.
Here is a description/pictures of the company:
For nearly 60 years, the RAND Corporation has pursued its nonprofit mission by conducting research on important and complicated problems. Initially, RAND focused on issues of national security. Eventually, RAND expanded its intellectual reserves to offer insight into other areas, such as business, education health, law, and science. RAND's innovative approach to problem solving has become the benchmark for all other "think tanks" that followed.
I'll keep you updated on how everything is going.. I start on Monday!

GRRRR at Target
GRRRR!
I used to think something like this lived in our woods in Redmond..
Innocent bystander passing by... Luckily I'm hidden :)
Me and my friends - Cobey, Anna, and Nick.
Good byeeee!!
Pet Stores in Malls
Halloween Carnival's Ball - Key Club
Nick and Anna were the choreographers for the piece; I know them from Breed (a dance group I was on in Seattle; they are leaders of a similar one down here in LA). There were 9 girls in the piece (most of them I knew, a few I met) - we had about 6 rehearsals or so (starting the day I landed in LA). The piece was scary (as you can see from the pics) - thrashy jazz hip hop.
We arrived at the venue on Halloween at 2pm - ran the piece with lights and then returned at 5:30 to run the show full out before the actual one. Then we ate sushi across the street and returned at 9pm to get ready. We did our make up in a parking garage because there were so many dancers in the event - luckily it was fun and scary make up! The show soon began at 11 and the venue was packed! We were the 2nd piece in the show and had a great time performing it. Everyone really enjoyed it!
It was definitely an experience to remember and it was great hanging out and meeting new people.
Nick and Anna, the choreographers...
The legendary Carnival sign in the background... all decorated with spider webs for Halloween.
8 of the 9 girls in the piece... we look pretty huh? :)
Being funny...
Close up with Khai and Elm in the back, they came to watch.
Cobey and I... LA smog has already attacked us!
Teresa (one of my roommates), Anna (one of the choreographers), and Tu.
Me, Jeffrey, and Cobey.
Me and my Halloween Dunks.. they have a tombstone on the side of them with 103107 written on it. You know me! :)
Love you all!!!

Where I'm Staying
There are about 30 apts in my complex and it's very safe. My place is a nice 3 bedroom apt. I live with Teresa (she's originally from Seattle, has been here for a few yrs) and Aiko (she has lived here all her life, dances a lot). They're both awesome and real laid back.
I still need to get a few things for my room (like a mini fridge hint: xmas haha) but I'm pretty happy with my setup.
